After the holiday parenthesis, here is the arrival of the first novelty of this 2021 for Google Meet: the Mountain View group announces it as a tradition through the pages of the official blog. It is meant to improve the process creation of meetings introducing new options to offer greater freedom to the end user.
Google Meet improves the process of creating meetings
By logging into Meet from meet.google.com and selecting "New meeting" you are faced with three possible choices, here they are.
- Create a meeting to start later: generates information to join a new meeting, so that it can be saved for later use.
- Start a meeting now: join a meeting with one click, without first going to the Meet waiting room. Once in the meeting, you can add others or copy information to share. Attention, the camera and microphone will be activated automatically with this option, but you can disable them once in the meeting.
- Schedule in Google Calendar: opens a new tab on Calendar to create an event by automatically entering meeting details on Meet.
Il rollout has already started, but as always happens in these cases it may take up to 15 days before everyone can have access to the feature. As you can see in the screenshot above, in our case it is already available on both Workspace and personal accounts.
La new feature is intended for the following types of Workspace accounts: Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus as well as G Suite Basic, Business, Education, Enterprise for Education and Nonprofits, without forgetting personal profiles. Those Workspace Essentials on the other hand will not see the “Schedule in Google Calendar” option, but only the other two.
